Our Mission Statement

Commencement of Training

The Providence School of Practical Nursing commences training of every fall trimester in October of each.

Amount of Students for Training Programme

The Providence School of Practical Nursing shall accommodate 35 students in each class only at any given time of every fall semester.

Programme Schedule

The programme is schedule for the duration of 24 months training programme Monday to Friday at 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Devotion

Devotion is kept only 10 minutes before class time.

Time Table

A Time Table will be issued to all students in each semester with the name of each subject to a name of a lecturer or based upon a topic or a major outline of a general topic.

Attendance Register

The Attendance Register shall be marked every morning before the commencement of a lecture.

Orientation

All students will be oriented only for one week at the commencement of each training session.

Log Book

A Log Book is kept for all entries of each subject and topics taught daily activities and any special visitors to the school of nursing.

Students Identification

A number is given to each student with identification for entry for each clinical event.

Dress Code for Female Nurses

The Dress Code for nurses must be fully attired at all times. For female student nurses full correct worn uniform, proper stocking, and white polished shoe. Cap must be fixed properly on each student. Short cut nails.

Dress Code for Male Nurses

Low cut hair, groomed at all times. Correct worn uniform. Short cut nails with black polished shoe.

Lecture Hour

Each lecture must be done within one hour of each subject areas; based upon the topic taught.

Annual & Fortnightly Test

An annual fortnightly test is given through each trimester to prepare for an end of term examination for competency in the student.

Preliminary Training School (PTS)

The first three months is known as the Preliminary Training School (PTS). It suggests the preparation for the furtherance of training. To be qualified to enter a second trimester, the students must at least be successful in 70% in all subjects.

Mark Record

A mark record is given to each tutor to enter all grades in percentages, assessment and evaluations.

Visiting

No visitors are allowed while lecture in progress. Considerations will only be given in the case of emergency if plaudable excuse is given.

Staff Meeting

Staff meeting is scheduled and held at the ending of each month.

Examinations

All examinations are given at the ending of each term. Students will be notified, requirements for examination will be issued such as:

  • Time Table
  • Rules and Regulations for examination
  • Examination Results
  • All examination results will be issued individually.

Clinical Status

It shall at any time for all students to be on clinical training, and so shall any tutor must be with at least five (5) students in each clinical settings.

Clinical Examinations

The Faculty Member and a Clinical Tutor must be present at each clinical event for any clinical examination, and signatures with the results are documentated and filed.

Ward Assessment and Evaluation

All students will be assessed and evaluated orally on each patient in a state of ward examinations in any clinical area.

Hospital Examination

Any student who has gained good evaluation marks from the four major areas, recommendation from two Sisters from Hospital, Clinics, Health Centres or from the Faculty Member in order to sit the Nursing Council Examination. Students will only be selected to sit the Nursing Council Examination.

Graduation

A yearly graduation will be held upon the request of the students.

Certification

All students will be given a diploma in Practical Nursing and shall be approved by the HEART Licensing Board at the end of each programme. Unsuccessful students will be given a Certificate of Attendance by the school which will not be approved by the Nursing Board.

Transcripts

Transcripts will be given to students only to the request of an institution, college or an employer. The transcripts will be sent to the institution, college or employer and shall be made private and confidential.

Certification of Verification

Any student nurse who is successful at the ending of the programme shall be given Certificate of Verification to such students only upon the request of an employer, hospital or any recruitment.

The Certification of Verification verifies about the student that such student have completed a Programme Practical Nursing with:

  • Commencement of Training
  • Name of Institution
  • The duration of Training
  • Batch Number
  • Identification Number

There is a fee of two thousand dollars ($2,000) for Certification Verification (which is subject to change).

Request of Badges

Any student nurse who has been successful in the Nursing Council Examination will be given a badge bearing the name of the student, the title and identification number upon the request of the student from the Providence School of Practical Nursing. There will be a fee of _______________.

Offense

Any individual who has been trained at the Providence School of Practical Nursing and bearing the name, using any form of certificate, badge, or any decision of any description of any sign.
Or
Proclaiming that he/she using such title as the case may be or working with certification under the name of the Providence School of Practical Nursing shall be guilty of an offense before the Resident Magistrate with a fine of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) or six (6) months imprisonment with hard labour.
